Is 2020 Teaching us to BREATHE?


As I work one-on-one with clients and small groups, I am of witness to how much we are not breathing. Connecting with our body. This work I get to do has shown a consistent presence of us navigating neglected deep emotions. Suffocating. Dissociation of the body. Emotions that are being unearthed from the depths of childhood, suppressed events, and moments throughout life. Emotional and physical trauma, harmful habits, and self-beliefs that cut away at our power seem to have been most present. Deep breath. Feel your body. In a recent session, my client's loving, and compassionate message was, “you must nurture your inner-child so she may integrate with the sage woman you are.” For both of us, that message felt profound. Breathe and Connect. She did not like hearing that we had to first focus on her inner-child, however, she was not surprised and knew it was time. A 61 year old woman surrendering to acknowledging her trauma, determined to heal so she may live the rest of her life with peace and joy. Through candid conversation I felt myself in her, I felt a little of us all in her. Deep inhale. Slow exhale. She is an absolute inspiration and I celebrate her healing. May she breathe in ease and comfort through her healing journey.

As a collective, we are currently managing far more than our normal day to day regimen. And as a collective, we are being invited to acknowledge what we have been carrying, and heal, so we may release and expand. If there has ever been a time to be gentle with yourself, I would like to announce that now is the time. Sometimes, we need permission …and If you have been looking for a cue, here it is. Earth is currently sitting at the dawn of a new era, looking out to an epic shift toward a “Universal Humanity.” Many paths of possible futures are both converging and being birthed. The choices we make now, what we bring to the world at this moment becomes the creative force that materializes our NEW collective story for humanity.

Through my study and practice of breathwork, I have learned that “Spirit” comes from the Latin word ‘Spiritus’ which means BREATH! How glorious, that each breath we take, each sacred inhalation/exhalation is in fact a reverent connection to spirit. The breath of spirit is the shining LIGHT that guides the human experience of the soul. The past six months of 2020 reflects on Breath.

Covid-19 starves us of breath. Compulsory wearing of masks starves us of breath. The devastating asphyxiation killing of George Floyd, “I CAN’T BREATHE.” Strangling us with fear and anger as we lose yet another black friend and family member. How do we mend the threads that make up the fabric of this world in order to reweave a untied BREATH of LOVE.

In this message, I offer a breath meditation, that is deeply supportive no matter where you are in your journey. I simply invite you to BREATHE. I invite you to feel BREATH. Experience BREATH like you have never done before.

Breathing challenges us to examine our beliefs about the nature of reality and offers great potential for expanding our view of what is possible. Breath brings us in contact with our creativity and passions, our innermost LIGHT. Breathing, and I mean intentional breath, immediately opens us up for transformation and transcends our framework of thought on intelligent life in the universe, the nature of matter, and the nature of our physical and emotional systems. Can you comprehend the richness of your breath? It can take you backward and forward in time. It can link you with higher minds and create anything it focuses upon. Breath can help you journey out of your body. It is your breath that transcends matter. It can be one of the highest abilities you have. It gives you visions, dreams, and perceptions in consciousness that transcends your normal awareness. As you breathe, you bring more light into your body.

So, for now, I gift you breath. I wish deep compassion for you as you breathe. I wish you love and light through breath. I look forward to continuing to breathe together as we expand our intention of healing light for self and humanity. May we breathe for higher consciousness, self-awareness, and peace. Breath by breath may you continue to open until you end up in a state of profound connection with yourself. When one of us heals, we all heal. Breathe here as you tune into this guided meditation.
